From The Sketchbook 02

Another sketch from a photo. This time of the "Little Odessa" (Brighton Beach) area in NYC. This one was done with the pocket brush pen and then colored with a Pitt brush pen.

From The Sketchbook 01

This sketch was done from a photo I took in the walled city of St-Malo on my last trip to France in '03. This is from the top of the wall looking down on the hotel in which I stayed. The sign says "Chien du Guet", which I think means "watchdog".

Things were a little slow at work so I did this to occupy my time. Sketched with my Pocket Brush and the scanned and colored in Photoshop. I was mostly inspired to do this sketch by the amazing Back Alleys sketches on Michael Cho's blog. Though my efforts pale in comparison.

Remodel, Part 2:
Primering and Painting

So after a long hiatus, work has resumed on the bedroom. We finished sanding down the walls. and the proceeded straight to the primering.

Here are the walls with 2 layers of white primer.

And after one layer of a special grey-tinted primer that is supposed to be good for color, allowing you to get even coverage with fewer coats. We'll see how well it works.

And look! It works great! Here are the walls with only one coat of Fragrant Cloves, our chosen color. Looks good, I think 2 coats will probably do it! Last time I had to do, like three or four coats of the blue, and more of the red.

In person, the orange is darker than it appears here. I'm very happy with the color.

Next we need to move the bed and finish the other (much smaller) half of the room. Peel, resurface, and paint. The fun never ends...

Meeting Notes Interlude 2

Here's a sketch from this mornings "mini meet".

I took it into Photoshop and applied a little color.

And here is the original sketch done with my Pentel Pocket Brush Pen.
